it obviously depends on the longevity of whatever is going viral, but if you consider the fact that gangnam style's youtube popularity lasted like 6 months and combine that with how weighted youtube is in the new hot 100 formula, the chances of harlem shake being #1 for many weeks/months is a real possibility

I know all of that. But they give certain weights to different datas like airplay, sales, streaming.

a 10:1 on views should not result in 3.5:1 in overall points, when TS has 2:1 on sales and literally infinite:1 on airplay as well as 6:1 on streaming.

Wow this is really bad. I think streaming is important but not THIS much. So many people go to view a song on YouTube just to hear what it actually is and not because they necessarily LIKE the song. Sales are the real indicator because that means the person liked the song enough to buy it.

Becoming #1 on the Hot 100 these days is just going to be a joke and not even a huge success. Especially now that parodies are involved. I hope Billboard rectifies this.

Well with that type of lead 1 week at #1 = 3 regular weeks at #1. So if it spends 3 weeks at #1 with that type of lead = 9 regular weeks at #1. + it might spend a few extra weeks at #1 with a smaller gap and there you got a 10+ weeks at #1 monster hit masked as a 4-5 week #1 "big" hit if you know what I mean

Parodies and parody views will definitely increase, you haven't even seen a fraction of its power. This explosion is brand new, it just happened. And you know how late the general public can be in getting into trends.
