The problem is those 106M views had nothing to do with the song. It's only a 30 second snippet. There's NO WAY the meme would have exploded like this if people had to sit through and/or create 3+ minute videos.
Count youtube views? Yes, perfect. But not like this.
I agree. The song itself has fewer than 5 million viewers worldwide after over six months and the fact that Billboard said that “Harlem Shake” would have placed at #15 on the Hot 100 without the inclusion of YouTube streams speaks volumes about how ****ed up the new formula is.
Only views from official YouTube and VEVO channels should count.
I feel that to reach top 20 for pure country song will be practically impossible. Now main positions for country songs will be 50-100.
Tim McGraw - One Of Those Nights
Country radio #1 - Mediabase , #2 - BB Airplay chart
Hot 100 position 43 (-11)
I somewhat disagree with even youtube views if the like and dislike bars are being ignored. We've seen countless songs without any subtance racking up millions of views, it would be sad to see quality songs being snobbed from the top spot because of this. I suggest using the # of likes on an official Vevo video to help to calculate its Billboard position. Someone should create a poll for this Likes or Views.
Guys, come on. Corporate radio is the worst. Whatever reduces its influence and gives power to the people is a good thing!
This!
Also why do you all even give a damn about this??? I swear to goodness, the only people who still give a damn about the BB Hot 100 chart are people on this forum . Even if they had not revised the charts, Harlem Shake would still have had the impact it has had. You don't need a chart to tell you that.
For us whose faves are going to benefit from this, the new formula is welcomed.
But lord have mercy on those with minimal YouTube views, even with good sales.

I completely agree. Views from VEVO are basically like Spotify streams and would be a great inclusion. People have consciously clicked the youtube link in order to listen to the song (and see the video).
But in watching a parody, you are not watching for the song. You're watching for the entertainment value of that parody. Listening to the song just becomes like the byproduct of a meme, which isn't logical
