Discussion: How long have you been a STAN?

I think not everyone is this into music as us stans so let's discuss about our stan life.
Have you grown out of a sound you used to love? What was your first musical obsession?

I remember I started with the Black Eyed Peas, not their whole discography just the most recent singles (Elephunk and onwards) and like a couple album tracks I came across. I was 12 and obsessed.

Then Fergie as well, but only singles too. At that age, I made an amateur Fergalicious remix and made a video for it with WMM and uploaded it to YouTube. STAN.

I guess you can talk about whatever you were obsessed with for years.

Until I was ~12 I only listened to what my parents did. I still like some of it (P!nk, Maroon 5, Kelly Clarkson etc.), but after my parents got me an Mp3 played, I really looked for my own music. I found Owl City and stanned for them super hard from when I was like 12-13. I listened to only him, and I'd be listening constantly. I still like Owl City (despite his horrible decline lately...) but it's kind of meh. I always liked Carrie, but I didn't stan for her until Play On. Since then, I've been an obsessive freak

No one. I liked whoever, whenever but the first time I experienced any kind of stanism was when Gimme More dropped.

I've been a stan of Justin since the end of 2009 when I bought My World. I started to stan for Britney when she released Gimme More back in 07', that's when I got into get discography and fell in love

I was an Orbital Stan immediately after I was jettisoned from my Mother's womb. Then I stanned for Aaliyah, but she died on me

In about 1999 I started stanning for Beyonce. Been at home ever since.

I started to stan for the REAL QUEEN back in 2009 when she released TFM, I bought The Fame on Christmas Day.

and I've been stanning for Crystal Castles since early 2012

I've been a big fan of P!nk since Stupid Girls was released in 2006. I didn't really "stan" for her as such until 2010 when I joined UKMix and then ATRL, although I did seek out her b-sides and live performances a year or so earlier.
I used to love pop and only pop, my favourite artists being P!nk, Shania Twain, Britney Spears, Rihanna and the Sugababes. The first album I ever bought was Come On Over by Shania, it was incredibly hard to find but I eventually bought it in an old record shop for 50p. I guess when I discovered the Red Hot Chili Peppers in mid-2011 that my tastes changed dramatically. I listen to more alternative, electronica and rock nowadays. I still love a pop song but looking back I think my tastes have changed quite a lot!

the first artist I stanned for was a German girl group that came from a singing competition. I was obsessed with them

I was about 12 or so.

after that, I got more into rock and the first band I was obsessed with was Nirvana. still love them to death and owe them so much.. then I stanned for The Libertines/Pete Doherty (about 2 years maybe), went on to The Strokes (about 4/5 years) and now I've been stanning for PTV and BMTH for two years

I started stanning well it's confusing I became a fan in late 2009 so i'd say a little over 3 years i've been a stan, it happened (me actually stanning) when i began to see Nicki in magazines and i was attracted to her looks and outfit choices and then her OUT Magazine shoot came

that one really made me fall in love with her and that was when i heard her sing acapella for the first time

My first stanning moment was for Fall Out Boy which started when I was 13 in 2005 and ended in 2008 when I was 16. I don't really like them anymore and I'm totally embarrassed about how obsessed I used to be, I was so annoying about it

I started stanning for Christina in 2008 sometime after she performed at the VMA's that year and I actually took the time to sit down and listen to her music and realized I liked it. I've liked Linkin Park since I was 11 and because it's been so long (10 years) it just kind of naturally turned into stanning

I don't think I've ever been a "stan." I like music and I usually give everyone the benefit of the doubt, aka I'll listen to anything. If I like it, I like it. If I don't, I don't.
except Justin bieber im sorry i just can't stand him or anything about him.

I'm not gonna obsess over someone. I'm really into pop music in general, though. Hence why I'm here.
