In breaking news, alleged cop killer Christopher Dorner has been sighted in the Big Bear area, and a shoot out has ensued.

It is has been confirmed that Dorner is holed up in a cabin exchanging gunfire with police for the last 30 minutes. The gunfire was reported near Seven Oaks Mountain Cabins a collection of rental homes near Big Bear Mountain. Two police officers have been confirmed wounded in the exchange of gunfire.

It is likely that Dorner, a former Navy Reservist, likely has an arsenal of weapons that include semi-automatic rifles. He allegedly has 34 registered firearms with him. Aerial video has shown authorities establishing a landing zone to airlift officers to and from the location.

Dorner had supposedly taken a couple hostage in a cabin, one of whom may have possibly escaped to report her vehicle stolen by Dorner. A vehicle with a suspect matching Dorner’s description was chased down in the vehicle, the vehicle ran out of gasoline, and from there Dorner continued on foot and took shelter in a cabin.

Schools in the area have been closed down, parents are urged to remain at home. The police are currently hard closing all roads leading to and from Big Bear.

Dorner was identified on Wednesday as a suspect in the shooting deaths of a couple, including the daughter of a former LAPD captain in Irvine. He is also charged with murder in the shooting death of Riverside Officer Michael Crain.

UPDATE 1: According to scanner reports, the location where the two hostages were held contained smoke grenades. The two female hostages also reported that the man had a pistol with a silencer. It is also being reported that he had a semi-automatic rifle as well.
UPDATE 2: Media helicopters are being ordered to pull away from the gunfire in order to keep both themselves and officers safe.
UPDATE 3: Dorner’s original truck that was found burned may have been abandoned due to a broken axle, which has led to the current situation.

He's been found burnt to death (at least they think the corpse is him). Whether it was self-immolation or purely accidental remains to be seen.
