Sounds fixed and exaggerated to me. In a way that the moral the story that he is trying to put across translates clearly:

"Gays can't be changed, even if you are christian and claim to be straight, those urges will never die down, this is a testament to that fact etc".

I think it would be more believable if he was caught with someone else, and not through a public dating app
