Despite labels' efforts to keep new music under wraps, it's no longer a question of if an album will appear online before its official release date, but rather when and how. Here's why.

as of 2007 there are only 2 albums that i bought "my december and the best damn thing"
back on the leak I think we can't stop it

I very rarely download albums, but if I like what I hear, I buy it legally. Since album sales are so incredibly low, I think the RIAA might want to consider lowering the Platinum status to 750k, which is still pretty hard for albums to reach today within a couple months.
if we talk about leaks, tzhe I only downloaded 2 albums before release: GoodGirlGoneBad and MyDecember
I only bought GGGB, but I'm plannning to buy MD as well
all the other albums I've downloaded are after release, I know it's wrong too, but leaks are worse
the pictures are funny. the music industry needs to stop depending on cd sales - they're just not worth that much in a digital age. there's plenty of a money to be had in merchandise and ticket sales.
Thank GOSH, That Britney's songs or albums have not been leaked yet, Britney is doing a good job at that.......and I don't hear leaked albums that I know I'm going to buy like Marilyn Manson, Britney, or Muse, Gosh they're great, BRITNEY RULES!
Yes this is the truth, it really does suck!! No wonder nobody can sell 10 million albums anymore and go "diamond" status, because it's impossible, albums keep leaking online and nobody buys them. Random, but wasn't the last album to go diamond Norah Jones - Come Away With Me? Of those released semi-recently, I mean. And Usher - Confessions came close.
But yeah, that's part of the reason album sales always go down every year, and that [for the most part] no artist can top their previous albums' sales. It's unfortunate, but there's not much anyone can do, because obviously not many people can resist the urge to download something for free instead of buying it and possibly hating it.
