Really? I heard that the album is gonna have a throwback sound. You can hear with suit and tie and the second song (that girl?) that it'll be a little modernized with timbaland/rob knox' s drums patterns and effects.
The album is dated only in the aspect of being an homage to the 60's and 70's. Futuresex 's theme was sounds that pushed the boundaries of where music was, but if you listen to that album futuresex/sexyback/lovestoned/my love and summer love where the only really different songs. Damn girl had a throwback sound, sexy ladies was very 80's prince-like, and so on.
I like how people come on here and comment that they want something even more innovative than whats out now. Sometimes I forget there are a lot of young posters on the site. Music moves in cycles. To quote justin "what goes around comes back around". What did you want him to do? and "I dunno, something different like FS/LS" isnt an answer.
There were plenty of artists doing techno songs before sexyback came along, but it was new for Justin. There were plenty of artists doing soul/rnb before suit and tie came along, but it's new for Justin.
Christina had Back to Basics, Justin has The 20/20 Experience neither are "dated" both are homages to a past era of REAL music and real musicians.
