I'm gonna stop you right there.
Single Ladies is an R&B song. The only pop elements about the song is the hand claps every 8th beat & the "Whoa oh oh, oh oh oh" part. The song was #1 on the R&B charts for 12 weeks, and even won best Best R&B song at the Grammy's. The fact that it is in R&B song in it's core, hinders it from becoming a smash hit in places where R&B isn't a big genre, but Bey did it. She was able to make an R&B song become a massive global hit with an iconic video + song. Literally everybody knows Single Ladies. If you can find me someone who never heard of Single Ladies, than this person must be either 35+ years old, living under a rock, or doesn't listen to music at all.
It may be a cheaper rehash of Get Me Bodied, but
NEITHER are generic pop songs.
