Its true though, she has tried many times with me, I haven't put any effort into it and the last time she called was about 8 months or so ago she she's probably given up, so it would be nice if I did the reaching out this time.........I think its a great idea actually. If you were mind independent you wouldn't turn down someone you actually like just 'cause your strong willed parents don't like them.

What should that matter? it's you you're talking about, your issue, not theirs, they can voice an opinion but no more than that.

I don't know if you read my other responses or not, but there was more to it than just my parents like the fact that we might have grown to far apart, have nothing in common, etc.....I think its just a way for me to hide behind all these including my parents because I just cannot bring myself to face her again......I don't want to feel like I'm in that place when I was 9-10 when I felt lonely and not part of society......I don't know, I don't have a clear idea about what's going on.......

High school had me reunited with a lot of people from elementary school who I felt it kind of became kind of awkward to talk to. They were still nice people, but people change a lot in middle school, including myself. I didn't go to the same middle school as most of the people from my elementary school, so we had different experiences.

I kind of regret feeling so awkward talking to them, though. I was such an insecure mess in high school. I could've made way more friends than I chose to.

I had a good group of friends in my street from when I was about 6. We were pretty close but I always had a weird dislike for them. When we were a bit older I even fooled around with 2 of them, they're 'straight' now. Everything was good until a few years into secondary school. They all started playing Runescape () and every time I tried to make plans they would be busy playing it. I finally decided to start playing it because I felt left out, and I got ADDICTED, I would go to school then come home and play Runescape all night, I think I did that for 2 years. Then I decided to go out one day and like everyone was gone. They had all formed different friendships and whatever and I didn't really have anything to talk about with them.

Then when I turned 16 and my classes in school got switched up I made 4 really good friends. I'm still really close to 3 of them now (I'm 21) even though we all go to different universities and live in different countries etc, we talk almost everyday. After school I went on to do a foundation degree in art and I made 2 really good friends there as well.

Although in university I kind of hate my whole class. I have 'friends' but I just kind of put up with them.

But yea, Runescape could have potentially destroyed my social life completely.

I understand that you are scared to meet her, I think you are afraid of how awkward it would be...afraid of the consequences. However, if you're that concerned about the friendship status that you discuss about the situation amongst us, I think it would just be in the best interest to meet her again. Swallow up those nerves. But again, its your choice, its your call, since only you have an idea about the significance of the friendship.

Just think of it from her perspective, how mad would you be if someone did the same thing to you. You wouldnt be too happy, right? If you have a friend that wants to talk, dont push her away over anxiety about the situation.
