She needs to follow the route that Jessica Mauboy took. Working with Australian writers and producers is not going to get her anywhere in the longrun, not even locally. I hope Sony see her potential by sending her out to the US to work with people over there. They did that with Jessica, and it payed off. If Samantha ends up like Jonny Ruffo with cheap rehash songs from the stale train, then I will be infuriated. She deserves so much more than the typical material other contestants get.
I agree 100%. It was clear that DNA Songs were to produce her first single and album, because it's part of her contract with X Factor, but now she can use the countless of connections she already has from her Jive Records past with established producers like Timbaland, Bryan-Michael Cox, Max Martin, Darkchild, etc. and use them if necessary. I can also see her doing well with some up and coming R&B producers like Hit Boy or Jukebox and current hitmakers like Bangladesh, Rico Love and Alex da Kid. The road she will probably take though will be the europop/Kylie sound, I'm totally sure about that. And that's fine. I think productions from Fraser T. Smith, Xenomania, Lucas Secon and Calvin Harris would suit her voice just perfectly as well.
Can she not hold notes long? I'm curious (listening to her cover of WHYB).
Her unique tone is not for everyone, so I get that some people might say she's too nasal-sounding, but it's undeniable that she has a lot of talent. For me, she just has it all. The perfect image, an intriguing character and a voice that manages both to be unique and distinct, while also having those powerful pipes that makes her performances believable and full of conviction for every lyric she sings.
She did good on the WHYB performance, but it's not that easy to both sing and dance at the same time, while also belting out a note.

She's a mix vocally of Xtina and Britney. I still don't like the way her notes are so brief. Her voice is powerful even if it is nasal. I think her notes could be longer but thats the only complaint I have. Her voice is beautiful, though.
The Where Have You Been cover sounds like Rihanna on helium, but I still really like it. Voice wise she sounds aquite similiar to singer Lights if she turned poppier, but more powerful. I like most of her covers, but Kelly Clarksons Stronger is a toughie to copy well. Otherwise looking forward to her output and hopefully she goes in the dance-pop-electro direction for my own selfish reasons.
