I always see people saying Gaga has cultural impact.... but how so? I really dont see an impact in my opinion but what I do see is her trying to be in the mediea 24/7. So how has she impacted society culturally?

She helped get DADT overturned. That in of itself is a huge deal.

And say what you want about the quality of BTW, one good that has come out of it is that she's helped many people who feel insecure about their sexuality (and other traits) become more comfortable with who they are. I really think she's helped lessen the homophobic climate in America.

I don't know, but they seem to reference her a lot on Disney Channel shows. That's about it.

I don't see it as a general cultural impact, but an impact to the pop culture.

People is always looking forward to what she does or how is she going to dress, people dress up like her in Halloween when people thinks of crazy hair, or crazy outfits they think of her, everyone in the music industry respects her and praises how special it is to have a pop star with huge dance hits that can also sit in a piano and slay. She impacted with her performances like no women has done since Madonna and Britney. The BEP and her kinda helped to make EDM mainstream. People sees her as an icon for anti-bulling stuff. The other pop stars wants to be like her, you see how after she appeared everyone started to use wigs of different colors and outrageous outfits, she made the premiere of her videos (or at least during the TFM era) almost a cultural event, etc.

Music:

Her debut album has generated four No. 1 songs. She topped the digital sales chart for 2009 with 15.3 million tracks sold. Her dance hits, including "Poker Face" and "Paparazzi," recalibrated the sound of pop radio with a spacey Euro vibe that's crept into songs by rock and rap artists. She grabbed attention beyond the music world with outfits that make her look like a refugee from a sci-fi film. In concert, on video and at past awards shows she has sported full facial masks, worn planetary rings around her head, and framed her face in what looked like a bird's nest.

Fashion:

Donatella might have the original platinum coif, but it appears that the fashion world has gone head over heels for another bleached-out blonde, Lady Gaga. Designers seemed to take a note from her signature style — sometimes scary and almost always pantless — for their spring collections.


Science:

Two of the 19 species in the Gaga genus are new to science: Gaga germanotta from Costa Rica is named to honor the family of the artist, who was born Stefani Germanotta. And a newly discovered Mexican species is being dubbed Gaga monstraparva in honor of Gaga’s fans, whom she calls ‘little monsters.’

College education:

The University of South Carolina will offer the full-time course, Lady GaGa and the Sociology of Fame, next semester, The New York Times has reported.

Social media:

Political activism:

Lady Gaga's dress from the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards is now dried and painted to restore its raw meat color. Beyond its shock value, though, it's being displayed at the National Museum of Women in the Arts with an explanation of her political message.

When Lady Gaga wore the dress, she was accompanied by U.S. soldiers affected by the "don't ask, don't tell" policy on gays. She later explained that if people don't stand up for their rights, they'll have as many rights as a piece of meat.

Business:

"She has changed the way endorsement deals work," said Rana Florida, chief executive officer of Creative Class Group, a think tank that advises businesses and governments. "She's putting more of her influence, thought and creative energy into a line rather than just endorsing them."

You need to do a little research, buddy. People have covered Lady Gaga's song on talent shows multiple times. Some bitch even did You and I on Idol before BTW album was released.

The person who said something about you being an Adele stan didn't necessarily mean to say it, but let's not delude ourselves: she has almost no cultural impact to speak of.

The cultural impact of most pop stars is sorely overrated. I think Gaga's impact right now would likely come down to her stance on gay rights and bullying. That was the centerpiece of her last era, including BTW, which was #1 for six weeks. People do more frequently use the term "born this way," despite it being a term before Gaga sang about it.

And not that this signifies impact, but the media is still pretty obsessed with Gaga, even when she isn't doing something to purposely gain attention.
