There's a huge difference between the two. The two songs probably are as big as each other in the US, but worldwide Rihanna has the clear advantage.

What is constituting a hit OP? Because both Lady Gaga and Beyonce have multiple singles that have outsold We Found Love :\ , including the one that they worked together on.

Everyone has forgot about We Found Love, even Rihanna.

Beyonce's "If I Were a Boy" comes very close. Top 10 in 25? countries, #1 in several. "Beautiful Liar" was also HUGE. But neither of those songs charted in as many countries as We Found Love did. Different world now than it was 5 years ago, so I'm not sure it's fair to compare Bey's older songs.
