The more modern the better? Never seen too many remakes that are better than the original imo.

Well thats your opinion... for me I would choose to watch the remake over the original any day... hense why I've hardly seen any of the originals to the remakes that I own... Each and every one of those remakes I listed I own on DVD because I love all those films, yes some of the remakes are better than others but still, they are all good films and a lot of people "hate" them just because they are remakes... if they were brand new films and the originals never happened I could GUARANTEE that people would like them a hell of a lot more... A Nightmare On Elm Street got some awful reviews but I would be willing to bet my life on it that if it was an original idea, people would love the film... it's just cause the fan base weren't here for it cause Robert Englund wasn't playing Freddy... it's sad really

Jaymz, The Strangers isn't a remake of Them. It was inspired by a series of break-ins that occurred in the directors neighborhood as a child, with elements of the Manson killings. Although they share similarities, they are pretty different. I love them both. So creepy.
Them creeped me out because they were being attacked by children the whole time. The Strangers really creeped me out because they are supposedly a "serial killer family"...

Most horror remakes are terrible and film abortions. The ANOES remake was a rehash of all the other films and no one was here for it because it was the same Michael Bay glossed over BS the F13 remake was. For me, the best horror movies are from the 80's-90's

Key words highlighted Michael Bay is actually a really good director... The transformers series was amazing. F13 remake was also a good film, they could've toned down the amount of sex in it though... either way both were good films and you will just have to deal with your flop "living in the past" taste

I haven't seen any of them before and to be quite honest The Cottage and Halloween were the best films... A Nightmare On Elm Street is just ok, but the remake though
In terms of remake vs original, for me it goes:
Halloween Remake > Halloween
A Nightmare On Elm Street Remake >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> A Nightmare On Elm Street

What is this f**kery?
John Carpenter's Halloween is an iconic masterpiece. The Rob Zombie mess deserves to not only be paid dust, but should be placed in a hole to collect dust.

The Rob Zombie one is a mess but it I prefer it over the original for two reasons... the first being that Scout is a better actress than Jamie was in the first Halloween... and 2nd, it's more recent

Well she was a terrible actress when she started out... pretty much the whole cast was terrible in the original Halloween, especially that girl that gets stuck in the window when she's trying to climb out so yes

What's this ****ery sis?
The originals >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> **** >>>>> The old ones
The Freddy in the remake looks as if somebody would've chewed her face and put it back on her neck, not even close to the original

The Freddy in the remake looks more like an actual burn victim and not some cheap old mask from the pound shop round the corner

The age ol battle old vs new, I have no problems with remakes(except Zombies Halloween), some people prefer the originals while others prefer the moderns; its all about personal preferences. Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Friday the 13th, even Evil Dead have such a strong following, and the originals are classics. So for people who watched these movies and grew up with the originals, they may not like the remakes because the original already has set such a high standard. So all they're gonna do is compare the old with the new. For people who haven't seen the original, or just didn't like them, they may like the remake better. It really is just personal preference, I mean if a remake is good Imma give it some props.
I haven't seen the new Nightmare on Elm Street, but imma watch it now though. But I think we all can agree that Halloween remake was awful.

Guys, take notes Some of the guys in here think they have better taste just because they think The Blair Witch Project is the best movie ever or just because they think an original is better than a remake... The whole point of the remakes was so that the current generation can enjoy a fresh take on old classics... if the oldies don't like it then they don't have to watch it, it's as simple as that. Also anyone who says that all the remakes are ****** is just plain ignorance, you guys need to re watch them and PRETEND like the original doesn't exist... then come back and tell me they are ****... if you do then you were just comparing them to the original which isn't what you are supposed to be doing.
They should leave Elm St, F13 and Halloween alone for a few years then come back to them and try again... what someone needs to do is take both the original and remake, combine them together and then put their own twist on it and see how it turns out... if the person is creative enough then they could turn it into an entirely new franchise... But I'm still gonna need that long awaited Nightmare On Elm Street 2 and that snow covered sequel to Friday The 13th... if they never happen then...
