This is the problem. I gave the original a 10 and the remix a 0. One is great and the other should have been the first song out.

Gross. I hate that song. It set the tone for the Chris Brown-forgiving mess that is Unapologetic.
"What Now" and "Cockiness" both deserved to be higher.

supa, who really cares if something she does is "Chris Brown-forgiving"? I thought we got over the initial disgust of it all when the Birthday Cake remix dropped.
I'm not a fan of their relationship together but let's move on.

Why should I have to enjoy a love song between a woman and her abuser? Four years removed from the incident isn't going to change the fact that I find the "Birthday Cake" remix disgusting. It was Rihanna's choice to forgive Chris Brown, not mine.

I find that remix disgusting as well. But anything she did after that which had even a hint of forgiveness in it didn't affect me anymore.
You shouldn't let your feelings about their personal lives affect your opinion on the quality of the music. Regardless though, that doesn't change the fact that the majority of Unapologetic is trash. But I don't agree that "Do Ya Thang" set the tone for anything. It's only controversial if you want to make it controvesial. I'm just here to enjoy the music.
And if Rihanna forgives Chris that's all that matters. I don't agree with her decision, but there's no reason to hold a grudge over it if even she can forgive him.
