midst the raging debate over assault weapons in the U.S. in wake of the Sandy Hook massacre, Lady Gaga inexplicably came out with guns blazing — almost literally — during a concert in Canada this weekend.
The Born This Way singer — whose real name is Stefani Germanotta — strolled on stage in Vancouver wearing a plastic gun protruding from her bra, in what could best be described as another homage to the Material Girl, who’s also triggered controversy by incorporating firearms into her act.
Gaga, 26, wore the gun bra on Friday, just a day after Vice President Joe Biden met with Congress and the NRA over stemming gun violence after the shooting in Newtown, Conn., which left several adults and 20 children dead.
Not surprisingly, Gaga — who’s known for her outrageous outfits, as much as her singing — is catching flack for her latest cringe-worthy costume.
1) She was in Canada, the shootings were in the US
2) People need to stop immediately. I'm sure the shootings and gun issues aren't stopping them from watching shoot em' up styled films. America bye. (Yes, I'm American too)
Why are they making it seem like its her first time wearing it and just wore it to spark controversy.
Also they ignore the fact she removed guns 3 or so other times from the show.
I don't really see the gun bra as a bad thing because she's not using it to shoot anyone like the other times it was used in the show. It's just an outfit.
I do believe it is "Too soon" to wear the gun bra, especially near the United States knowing how the media and public LOVES to blame all the issues on everything but itself. Gaga should be a little bit smarter, but she was in Canada and people need to stop being so Butthurt.
But it's not controversial when guns are used in film and TV? Oh, and key word: Canada. But y'all know it, in before people pretend to be offended. I'm for the control and even abolition of arms, by the way.
More than 20 people outside the US were killed with guns when Gaga wore this outfit last year. More people will continue to get shot with or without a costume change from Lady Gaga.
It's an outfit. She doesn't shoot anyone with them. Guns are used in movied and games and then it's "fun", when she doesn't even shoot with them and have used them for almost 9 months then it's offensive?
Also, let's not focus on Gaga wearing a costume. When it comes to firearm issues in the States there are much more prominent issues to be concerned with.
I feel it culturally important to note that Gaga has chosen a less responsible path. Your fashion statements on tour is rooted in glorifying guns. "Artistry" is the most used reason for hypocrisy in the world. Your tour breeds negativity.
