This proves America doesn't give a **** if you can sing...
Let's look at 4 females, all of which have proclaimed "summer anthems" over the past 4 years:
2004: Nina Sky - Move Ya Body (Billboard Hot 100 peak: #04)
2005: Rihanna - Pon de Replay (Billboard Hot 100 peak: #02)
2006: Cassie - Me & U (Billboard Hot 100 peak: #03) 2007: Kat DeLuna - Whine Up (Billboard Hot 100 peak: #29)
And sadly, it doesn't look like Kat DeLuna is going any higher. This just proves that America really doesn't give a **** if you have talent. I mean really, it doesn't make sense. The formula on all 4 of these songs is the same: Hot summertime beat with some random chick or chicks singing or attempting to sing. The problem here is that Nina Sky, Rihanna, and Cassie CAN'T sing. And then you have Kat DeLuna (who sounded ****ING amazing in that opera voice at the beginning of the "Whine Up" video) and she stalls at what, #29?!?!? WTF. For real, America's got problems!
Well a lot of singers can't sing and we know that, but we all look for a hot summer anthem during the summer time and those just happened to be out at the right time to be proclaimed as summer anthems.
Whine Up is really good and it's sad that it peaked at #29 and the others made top 10.
