Recently I checked out the Oscar nominated song, Before My Time, which Scarlett Johansson serves as a vocalist. I'm actually surprised. I still remember when she released her first album, Anywhere I Lay My Head. It was panned by the critics and the general public. The vocal was so weak and disastrous. But now, I'm surprised that she went from this:

So here's the question, what are you guy's opinions of Scarlett Johansson's singing ability? Great, Good, Soso, bad or what?
I don't think Anywhere I Lay My Head was an accurate representation of her abilities, I think she was going for that imperfect sound. She recorded her duets album with Pete Yorn, Break Up before she recorded Anywhere I Lay My Head, and her voice is beautiful all the way through it. Here's one of the songs from it:
I definitely agree that her voice is much stronger now, but I don't think it was as bad as Anywhere I Lay My Head made it seem. I personally loathe the album, I wish she'd make another in the style of the songs she has recorded since her albums, like...
One Whole Hour, from the same composer as Before My Time
Bullet, which Steel Train personally asked her to cover
A cover of Last Goodbye by Jeff Buckley, which she did for her movie He's Just Not That Into You
I mean, she doesn't have a pop voice and isn't a powerhouse, but I love her voice.

On Live! with Kelly and Michael, Scarlett said she is in the process of starting an "all girl group" called The One and Only Singles... hopefully that means more music from her soon!
