I downloaded Off to the Races when it was the Single of the Week on iTunes back in December 2011 and it was a mess. I didn't fully get through it until February 2012 and I began to love it, so it caused me to make an even more impulsive purchase than I did when I bought Some Nights.

At first I only liked 5 songs: Off to the Races, National Anthem, Carmen, Lolita and Lucky Ones. I paid absolute dust to the rest of the anthem until a month later when I was bored of whoring out the tracks I liked.

I don't stan for Lana, I don't particularly like her and I think she's an awful singer and a mediocre writer. She has a great creative style though and her music's really addictive. And no, I'm not on the Lana bandwagon - in fact this is the first time I've ever actually talked about really liking her music.

I thought this would be the best album of the year for a long time (end of February up until October) but now I look back and think "What the **** was I thinking? ". With the onset rush of brilliant music from October I realised that I was pretty delusional because the album really is mediocre.

Now this album I really have worked my way through song by song! To the point where I've still only heard half the album. But a flawless half at that.

Each and every song from this album is a masterpiece. No seriously, every song is near flawless. Clown remains my favourite because it's the most flawless song I've heard all year - there's not a single thing I would change or alter about it.

If I'm truthful, then the only people not underrating this is the UK. I saw earlier that this is back on top of The Official Album Chart once again, which is incredible and wholly deserved. It's a shame she hasn't smashed anywhere else because this album is almost on par with 21.

Regardless it's an incredible album and I'm glad to know (half of) it.

I really have to give my props to Vato for assisting my introduction to Alicia Keys back in August 2012, because without him I would never have discovered the amazing The Element of Freedom and I wouldn't have hopped on the download button when this album leaked a few days earlier than intended.

Girl On Fire is... intensely underrated. I mean the album when I say this. It's reminiscent of the rejection American Life faced due to the lead single - both albums underperformed and both lead singles were bad representations of the album as a whole.

The album is really amazing, and I wish people would give it a chance to discover that themselves. Obviously it's not her best vocal display ever and sometimes she borders as bad as the lead single, but that's rare and happens like twice. Lyrically it's a masterpiece (as per usual for Alicia) and the production is incredibly precise and on-point - even I was surprised.

101 is my favourite song from the album (and my 5th favourite song of the year) and I couldn't be more impressed by it. Alicia really pushed the boundaries of her best and while I don't think she exceeded them, she was damn close. 101 is pure perfection and such an overwhelmingly beautiful song.

Oh, and Egypt's verse at the end of When It's All Over >>>>>>>>>>> your fave.

Oh my, so many 10s!

In all honesty, this is probably the most surprising album to make my list. I've only ever heard 2 songs by Taylor before and I loved both, but not enough to sit through an entire album.

I went through an obsession with WANEGBT - it was stuck in my head for about 3 weeks straight - so I decided to give this a listen a few days after it leaked. I'm so glad I did.

State of Grace instantly had me hooked and is the second best album opener of the year (behind my #1 ) - amazing choice Taylor. That first listen was pretty amazing. I still haven't heard the features more than once each (I can't stand Taylor not having the spotlight on her own album - she needs it) but the album is a fantastic mix of country and pop, and is the closest I've ever come to listening to Country music.

Brilliant album Taylor, and one of the most enjoyable albums to listen to all year.
