I'm not saying the Osbornes or Joan Rivers is right, NOR am I saying that there are other celebrities that are more passionate about anti-bullying campaigns than Gaga. But it is extremely important to note that Lady Gaga IS in a position of power - she has uplifted and empowered people who feel bullied on the regular. They look up to her.
It's evident someone is being hurt in her name and she's doing nothing about it, she's legitimately fanning the flames. That's not right either. Do you have any idea how easy it would be to be the better person if she had just said "I don't agree with how you choose to make a living, and I'd prefer if you kept my name out of your mouth. But if my fans hurt you in any way to defend me from your family's slander, please know that it was never my intent to encourage people to think that is ever okay to send death threats or bully others in any shape or form and I apologize that it came to that". Simply sending a tweet out with "It has come to my attention that there are Little Monsters spreading hate - this is not what we're about".
That would be classy. It's never okay to just be silent about these things. Gaga is extremely smart and knows exactly what she's doing. So if she's NOT doing something, perhaps you should be paying extra attention. If she was truly passionate about bullying, knowing that she has a particularly rabid fanbase, do you truly believe she's just oblivious to the fact that there are little monsters out there that can be harsh to others out of love for her? She could follow the crowd of other celebrities and stay silent... but copying what others do and not thinking for herself doesn't seem to be her style. Something doesn't add up with Gaga.
