The '212' rapper signed to Interscope has had quite the year in 2012. Her debut single became more mainstream, gaining her loads of relevance in the UK + began getting e-famous. She also released a small track-pack titled '1991'. She was able to sell over 20K+ in the US by the end of the year, which was impressive considering she is completely unknown to the American Public. After that, she went off to release a monster-mixtape 'Fantasea' that featured potential smashes such as "Esta Noche", although the single release did get pulled. Towards the end of the year, it has been confirmed that she has done collaborations with Lady Gaga, on more than just a track. And she received an offer to open in the 'Born This Way Ball Tour' for the NY shows. So 2012 was definitely the right step in the direction that could've potentially made Azealia's career huge.
As we rung in the new year + made a difference in our lives, it looks like Azealia decided to change her Twitter attitude from bad to worse. She was known for picking up arguements with artists such as Nicki Minaj, to random stans on Twitter. In 2013, she broke out a beef with irrelevant female rapper Angel Haze. They sent each other nasty messages, even diss tracks such as "No Problems" + "Shut The F*ck Up" back and forth. Her most recent fued was with huge celebrity blogger Perez Hilton. I think it's safe to say by now that this was her biggest Twitter war in her career. After Perez stepped into the Angel vs Azealia fight, Azealia started going off like never before. It came to the point where she used a "gay slur" by saying the so-called: "F-Word". After failing to win people back over by trying to re-define the word "f*ggot," Azealia was confronted by GLAAD. She also was in a mess with some Billboard editors. So yup, way to kick off what was supposed to be the biggest, most life-changing year of your career.
However, it seems as if Miss Banks has gained something from these fueds. From the time being of January 2nd through January 9th she has gained just over 20,000 Twitter followers. Along with that, she has also gained a lot of publicity. It may not be innocence, but all publicity is good publicity. She has created a certain hype about herself. And with her proper debut album 'Broke With Expensive Taste,' those opening sales will clearly be the decider of where her career will go.
