I think it's impressive that Britney has the biggest fansite/forum on the net among the pop girls and still manages to have more than enough across the web, including ATRL. (Probably second biggest fanbase after Gaga here). I mean, she's still huge and always will be huge. Sales never define how big a fanbase is. I mean most stans don't even legally buy her **** any more, like me. I didn't buy Femme Fatale. But I promise to buy her next one.

I think August is too early for a lead single if she plans on releasing in November or December. September is more fitting. Obviously I would prefer the promotion that comes with a VMA performance but something along the lines of the release dates for Circus and its singles would be perfect.

She should release a summer single, followed by a September album release. That way, she'd benefit from both Black Friday discounts and Christmas sales, as well as fourth quarter sales in general.
If she releases in December again, the album would sell 70% of its total in 5-6 weeks like “Circus” and the era would be over album sales-wise quickly. First quarter sales are the pits, especially if you don’t promote, and I doubt she will.
