Right? A lot of signs are pointing toward this era being really big, but even so it might not be able to reach 7 million (though I still believe in the perfect setting it might). People do way too much on BTW.

The only artists Gaga has to outsell next year are Eminem (if he's even still releasing) and Lil Wayne.

Also, The BTWB was a crazy success in Japan. It's her highest grossing location so far with $18M from the 3 dates. She's pretty big there.

I'm mainly worried about the US. In Asia, Australia and Europe, a little promo can always be very effective. And she isn't one not to promote.

What would the very minimum be for her there at this point? 800k? 1m? 1.2m?

I want her to go double platinum again in the US. I don't think she should settle for platinum.

If the album is struggling to get there, I hope she keeps pushing hard through the upcoming 2013 holiday season with shove-it-in-your-face promotion and hardball discount tactics.

For a while at least - album sales will rise again, they're the industry's biggest source of profit as far as actual music consumption and labels will not let them die.

I would be shocked if she struggled to go platinum. I wouldn't be shocked at her US performance being similar to 4, which was good in 2011 and would be way above-average in 2013. This with more global support. Am I underestimating her?

Yeeahhh I think if that happens she's screwed, but hey #2 is better than nothing.

If she can't sell over 1M copies in the US, the era would be flopping. The industry hasn't gotten THAT bad.
