I like this way of presenting songs. It works like a great trip throughout the year indeed. Funny thing is, since we live in two different hemispheres, songs presented as winter songs were mostly summer songs to me and so on.
Domino was one of the first songs I heard in 2012, and it reminds me of the very hectic January. Same goes for This Head I Hold and Part Of Me. Nice set.
Happy 2013.

PROGRESS: Winter · Spring · Summer · Fall · #40-36 · #35-31 · #30-26 · #25-21 · #20-16 · #15-11 · #10-6 · #5-1

For better or worse, we're just getting started! Installment #2 brings us 36 memorable pop songs from the Spring.

What an amazing electric dance pop creation. Blows my mind whenever I listen.

Straight up enjoyable, no-nonsense, lovable pop from Sweden. A bit like Robyn.

One of 2012's greatest new discoveries, no question. "Hold On" is a jam of jams.

I miss her '80s style synthpop, but this Record Store Day release was top notch.

More from Record Store Day! It was beyond great to get a new release from Blur.

Even more RSD12. Feist and Mastodon covered each other's songs. Feistodon!

The infinitely charming Ladyhawke (of "My Delirium") returned for more in 2012.

It was an ad for Internet Explorer of all things that rocketed this song to the top.

Cher Lloyd is trouble. I think the key to success on this track was the "AUUGH!"

I stumbled upon this experimental alt-pop group's single and instantly loved it.

If you know me at all, you know that I tend to enjoy Canadian singer-songwriters.

These guys may have set the record for most fun had in the making of a video.

Man, this song was everywhere for a while. Couldn't avoid it. But it deserved it!

I would describe Tennis as unconventional lo-fi pop. They're super good. That's all.

Great song by an indie singer-songwriter from Texas with a really unique sound.

The sleeper hit that you definitely heard even if you never realized that you did.

I feel as awkward about this as I did Kevin Rudolf and Lil Wayne in '09. Oh well!

I'm glad Garbage is still together and doing their thing. I played this single a lot.

Really good straightforward rock music, but holy sh** I can't get over this photo.

Despite the album art, The Ting Tings are very much alive, and I'm glad they are.

Is Nicki gonna keep reusing Pink Friday for every album that she ever releases?

From the season premiere of Mad Men, this performance took on a life of its own.

At the beginning of 2012, I said I wanted some good rock. The Hives delivered.

I think these guys are classified as noise pop. Well, it's some pretty great noise.

It's a fun song, but that's about all I can say. I can't really defend this next block.

More low-rent pop from the gutters of SiriusXM 20 on 20. "Shame On Me" indeed.

Oh god, now I like a song by a no-name former member of the Pussycat Dolls?

Like it or not, these guys are this generation's *NSYNC. Might as well embrace it.

Linkin Park re-emerged again in 2012 just to die in this fire. R.I.P. Linkin Park.

OK, now we're talkin'. The Gaslight Anthem continues to rule the world of rock.

Class Actress, more than just a great band name. This song grabs a hold of you.

Speaking of great names, I discovered Jesca 5 years ago. I'm glad she's back.

Sia is the best. Add the magic touch of David Guetta, and a surefire hit is made.

From his critically acclaimed Channel Orange, it's when Frank Ocean took over.

The season finale of SNL wrapped up with this wonderful send-off to Kristen Wiig.

Kylie celebrated 25 amazing years in the music industry with this hot new track.

Soon, I'll continue my march through the seasons with 36 more memorable pop songs from Summer. Be there!

APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY FLOWERS BRING ANOTHER GREAT SET OF MUSIC. That is the worst thing that has ever been written. Call up the record book holders! The #1 worst has arrived!
Anyway, enough of that nonsense. To avoid going super long like last time, i'll just mention the ones I know and like, for right now: Blur!!! Under the Westway! What a great song! Happy that it was included on your list. Holy moly (I originally had "holy molt" typed out. HOLY MOLT! STEVE HOLT!), Feistodon! Love it! Of course, The Dubstep Internet Explorer Song. You couldn't escape it this year! I'm pretty sure I like it? Finally, IE did something right for a change. That Cher Lloyd song is bonkers, "AUUGH!" indeed. I saw her perform that on some show over the summer, and they had comic book/Adam West Batman style "AUUGH!"'s appear on the screen behind her. Loved that. Kathleen Edwards, **** yeah! SOME CANCON IN THIS PIECE! And some great CanCon at that. Everybody Talks, Midnight City, great. Haha, I approve of the Yelawolf/Kid Rock song. Love the Ting Tings write-up. ZOU BISOU BISOU. THE SONG OF LATE MARCH! The Hives riffing on ELO, **** yeah! 1D, I like the guy that looks like he came out of Doctor Who. Gaslight Anthem, great. Jesca Hoop, yeah! Rep for her! I have her new album, and need to listen to it. Titanium, great. Frank Ocean, great. WIIG!!!!! One of the most memorable moments of 2012, without a doubt, and i'm glad you found a way to honour it. And to wrap it all up, Kylie!
I'm leaving some off, and I haven't heard of many, but quite a few of them sound interesting. I approve of anyone who names themselves "September," for instance. That's just good clean fun.
BRING ON SUMMAH!

TC - the layout, the tunes, the overall ownage, it's all so epic.
Winter:
Love that you love your pop females. Jessie J, Kelly Clarkson, Demi, Selena, Katy, Karmin - boom, no shame, cos its all awesome. Well done.
But then you bring it even harder with Grouplove, Electric Guest, and Gotye - goes to show why your one of the raddest dudes around.
Spring:
So much of the important rock for the year showed up here; Alabama Shakes (Brittany Howard owns), Walk the Moon, Neon Trees, M83, Garbage, and Gaslight friggin Anthem, they need to be bigger.
Minaj and Guetta - an obvious must for this year's lists.
Frank Ocean - too true. I hope "Channel Orange" does it big on your albums list.
1Direction - amirite? People need to stop thinking so hard about it.
Jessica Pare - this is the best addition to any year-end list I've seen all year. Mad Men, her character, that episode, that song - everything. Beauty.

TC! Great to have you back.
Love how cynically funny you are about the songs you aren't so "proud" of. Much better to write hilarious descriptions then pretend they do not exist!
As usual, I recognize (and love) about a third of these and some more have me very intrigued. September, for instance. I love swedish music and "Party In My Head" is no different apparently. Including Pare is a great idea! I love her. Just think that only two (?) years ago she was the random naked girl that Craig Robinson was having relations with in Hot Tub Time Machine.
Keep em coming!

PROGRESS: Winter · Spring · Summer · Fall · #40-36 · #35-31 · #30-26 · #25-21 · #20-16 · #15-11 · #10-6 · #5-1

The weather's cold, but we're gonna heat it up and check out what things were like this Summer with 36 more songs.

Kimbra set out on her own and killed it with "Warrior" to start off the summer.

This riveting cover of the Siouxsie & The Banshees classic was a nice surprise.

One of the best songs of the year to light up the alt rock space. Go Blondfire!

I'm glad 2012 gave me this great new Justice track to play over and over again.

I was late to the party, but this "cosmic disco funk collective" ruled my summer.

The people of Sweden really make some of the best music. Let's move there.

This perfect chill track for the summer is a bit psychedelic, lo-fi, and garage-ish.

After her stripped-down Nirvana cover last year, Yuna impressed once again.

I'm glad Matchbox Twenty, one of my old faves, was back in business this year.
Push And Shove was Rock Steady Pt. 2, but I was so stoked No Doubt reunited.

Our '90s reunion continues! Alanis' angelic video reminded me of her in Dogma.

Green Day put out 3 new albums with mixed results, but points for switching it up.

Crystal Castles are f**king weird, but that's what I enjoy so much about them.

Fun light pop as heard in some of NBC's promos for the London 2012 Olympics.

Speaking of! I about lost my damn mind when this happened. So did the world.

French Canadian music! Loved this song from the Montreal singer-songwriter.

I slept on this lovely song from 2011 until it showed up in Kindle Fire ads in 2012.

More upbeat pop that I discovered thanks to TV commercials. Thanks, TV!

Kendrick Lamar helped define 2012 with this incredibly infectious summer track.

This great Australian indie band eluded me for a while with their misspelled name.

Sickeningly sweet pop song from a chorus of sisters known for singing a capella.

I didn't give Battle Born the chance I should have, but I did appreciate this single.

One of the best new indie projects out there. Can't wait for their full LP in 2013.

The photo tells you all you need to know. Just a hot club track, no credibility here.

From an as-of-yet relatively unknown singer, this is just a sweet summer song.

Wild Belle is a new duo whose blend of music feels kinda exotic and glamorous.

Legends of rock and roll right here, with one of my favorite Neil songs in years.

Cornell and friends reunited (hooray!) starting with this track for The Avengers.

At some point "It's Time" reached the stratosphere and totally dominated 2012.

Great new Wye Oak from the Adult Swim Singles Program, a wonderful thing.

I was happy as Mumford & Sons in this photo to hear their new music this year.

Karmin's best song. "Brokenhearted" was everywhere but "Hello" won me over.

Love this new Pink track. If you've had a sh** day, just put this on and turn it up.

I love Nelly Furtado, I love it that she returned again, and I loved this quirky hit.

One of 2012's defining songs and bands. "Some Nights" will go down in history.

It's the "Macarena" of 2012. I had to include it. Absolutely f**king ridiculous.

One more season to go! Next up, the Fall gets its turn with my final installment of the year's memorable pop songs.

Whoa! There you are! Haven’t seen you at all and Wow things have change around here and now you are just a senior member. Oh well, You were a great administrator for this site so you are good in where you are at outside of this site?
Now Let’s check it out, For Winter I like Nuclear Sessions, Good Feeling, Polish Girl, Part of Me, Ray Charles, Bangarang, Tongue Tied, This Head I Hold, Stilettos, Addicted To You, STIUTK & Brokenhearted. Have to check out some of your songs that don’t look crappy like the CSS & The Cranberries song since it was on at least in one other Best of.
For Spring, I should’ve include Ultraviolet Sound on my worst list since their songs just don’t do it for me at all, Yup I’m loving that September is having a party in my head, Hold on is king, Like that Little Boots that was snubbed from m End of, Good Blur song, Too Close one of the great songs in 2012 as is Anna Sun, Everybody Talks is everywhere being overplayed but id don’t mind since it hasn’t die yet completely that is , Midnight City is one of the great leftovers from an awful 2011, Like Let’s Roll, Blood For Poppies, Zou Bisou Bisou(forgot about this song but strange but good song overall), Go Right Ahead, Shame of Me, LP has come one with the fire, 45, Dav/Sia, & TBY. Crazy Crazy ,still not sure if I think it’s an ok song to like.
Summer was the time to go back to music and to begin is, Kimbra w/ Mark & A-Trak, Where The Kids Are, New Lands, Live Your Life (Must check out the Nirvana Cover), She’sSo Mean, Plague, Swimming Pool (Drank), Gin Wigmore, Freak Like me, is This Love, Million Bucks, Runaway, To Won Your Love, Neil/Crazy Horse, indeed they did It’s Time is Epic, I Will Wait, Hello, Blow Me, Big Hoops , Some nights, &yeah Gangnam Style must appears somewhere even though it’s pure f**kery. What a summer I had but it all.. Fall from here. Can’t wait for that set.
A lot of great Pop, Alt. Rock & Indie songs that you display for us. Ecstatic to see that you listen to SXM stations/channels like 20on20 & XMU as well as your great one liner. I need work on that department. Can’t always relied on long-ass essays like this one. Well great start on your Best of sir.
WOO!

The Winter and Spring sets were great, and guess what? THE SUMMER SET IS ALSO GREAT! HAVE A SUMMAH!
First, the songs that I know: love Justice, the No Doubt song is good (Rock Steady Pt. 2! That really was what the album was), Alanis (nice job referencing Dogma), Green Day, Crystal Castles, Echosmith (checked the song out, since you said it was used in NBC promos. And yes indeed, I have heard that! Thanks for helping me ID it), Crystal Castles (Cancon!) The Spice Girls (yes! What a great moment!), Coeur de Pirate (**** yeah! Some more CANCON. I also love what the graphic has done to her name. Very trippy!), The Kindle Fire song, Kendrick (DRANK), Killers, Neil Young & Crazy Horse (NEILYOUNG NEILYOUNG), Soundgarden (that Cornell as Iron Man graphic is so ****ing funny. It could stand right beside the Cornell as Kermit graphic), Wye Oak (Wye Oak with Adult Swim! What's not to love? And that really was a wonderful song by them), Furtado (CANCON), fun. (though I prefer the 10 Minute Extended Mix), and, of course Gangnam Style. Wouldn't be a 2012 list without it!
Tons of stuff that I don't know, much of it that looks really interesting. I'll def try to check out stuff like Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Dominique Pruitt, Wild Belle, and so many others to list. I also laughed at the Mayra Veronica write-up. No shame! Which is what makes your year-end great. From highbrow to lowbrow, and everything in between. As all year-ends should be!
Looking forward to the FALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
