I think people overreact to the deterioration of Britney's performance skills. I do agree that she is inconsistent at times but, in general, she's still a really good performer.

For example:

I like this performance. Yes, her look could of been better, but the performance itself was really good and I was entertained.

The problem that I observe is not necessarily the performance itself but Britney and how she does look dead in the eyes. If she just showed some joy instead of plopping on a fake smile, I think fans would be more satisfied.
