CHRISTINA LIVING IN THE SHADOWS
Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera were the breakout stars of 1999. Releasing their debut albums respectively, both recording artists were at the forefront of the late 90s bubblegum pop movement. And thus, a fairly competitive rivalry between the two became present in popular culture. To this day, this rivalry still exists to some noteworthy extent.
As their careers moved on, the gap between the two performers widened. Spears has still managed to sustain her career with hit singles, reasonable album sales and touring. Aguilera on the other hand, is currently struggling to put herself back on the map again when it comes to commercial success with her music. Her last two records
Bionic and
Lotus are prime examples.

So, now I want to propose my question to all of you...
Something that has always interested me, are the ongoing theories as to why Spears always seemed to be a step ahead of Aguilera, and why that has become much more evident as the years pass, especially since 2010. What made Spears so much more digestible to the public, and what does she have that allows her to overshadow Christina? Let's
