It's not about logic, it's common sense. You don't normally put a word like Lord after the person's name. So when people do it for Cher Lloyd, it becomes a nickname, as you're mangling Lloyd into Lord.
Legend Gaga is fine, as Gaga is what she's called, and Legend is not a mangling of Lady.
I don't know why some people are trying to turn it into rocket science. It's a very simple rule. In the end we decide whether something's a nickname or not, so if you're in doubt and don't want to risk a WP, just say her name normally. It's not that hard.
