I agree with him though, the girl who played Eponine didn't amaze me with her vocals. I felt like she toned it down a lot in favor of acting since film acting is way different from stage acting.
And Rachel Wood wasn't calling him out, she was agreeing to him. She's saying that singing the soundtrack live on film can be done with a cast who can both sing and act well.
And yeah, the vocals were mostly OK to good in the film (but acting was brilliant!). Regardless of what a flop he is, it does not take away any of the truth from his statement.
