It depends on the frosting. If it's really gummy and dense I usually scrape it off, it's just unpleasant and generally far too sweet. If it's something like cream cheese frosting with a pleasant, less artificial texture, yas.

I do bake cakes, all the time. After working up the perfect icing and spreading it all over the cake to perfection, that's what I live for.
