The only reason I'm glad no one called him out on it is because it would have been traced to Gaga being called a plagiarist, which she does not need anymore of that.
She might as well have gotten Timbaland to produce Just Dance, given that it's pretty much "Maneater"'s twin sister, instrumentally.

I agree that he was derivative and generic during The Fame, but even then there's something different about the songs (but I think that's just due to the topic and the woman who wrote them, and not as much the production as with future releases).

To be honest, I think "Monster" is perfect example of hat and my personal favorite choice for the defining Gaga/RedOne sound. It's commercial, it's fun, it's catchy as hell, and still has a very distinctly Gaga vibe about it. When that wasn't a single I was soo pissed, I still think it would've been the second biggest hit from TFM after "Bad Romance".
|
YES! I agree with all of this. Monster is an incredible song: no other pop girl could pull it off (has a Gaga touch), it's catchy as ****, and could've done really well as a single. Alejandro wasn't a bad choice in the end, but I really wanted a Monster video/performances

He's been awful for a while. The only decent song he's produced in recent memory has been "Hair."

HA!

Judas
She played various instrumentals in her gagavisions such as mtn and ec.
The Edge of Glory
Americano acoustic
Hair
MTN
HML
Black jesus
11/17 tracks and she released the highlights/major tracks. Bloody Mary was like the only surprise left. Actually, she played bloody mary instrumentals so idk.

I don't think she debuted Heavy Metal Lover. On FarmVille she just debuted Marry the Night and Fashion of His Love if I remember correctly.

It was the strength of the artist, and not the (exceedingly weak) producer that made those songs great.
Fernando is her best mainstream collaborator that we've heard so far. DJWS is too underground, and she'll probably never work with DarkChild ever again.

The last sentence you just wrote literally hurts.
"Reloaded" still needs to see the light of a real release.
And don't even get me started on "Out of Control", the gospel life-giving career-annihilating smash that never was.

The Edge Of Glory and DITD are better than anything RedOne has ever come up with.

Eh, RedOne is more consistent though. TFM's album tracks >>> BTW album tracks
And Just Dance, PF, and BR are bigger than anything Fernando produced. DITD is her masterpiece though.

Gaga knows how to commercialize her own music. I think she knows how to make a radio hit as she has more than redone. Also redone produced the messiest track on BTW which stinks cuz hair is a beautiful track.
Zedd is also a commercial producer, redone has had his time with Gaga. We cant have gaga go run to redone any time she needs a hit. Im fine with her doing a few songs with him for oldtimes sake but she needs her own sound and not rely on him.

In general, TFM was better-written than BTW.
And of course they were bigger. She didn't release anything by Fernando until Born This Way. By then, she was at a point in her overexposure that nothing would stick beyond the title track, and it was the RedOne track (Judas) the rendered the era dead as a doornail.

Better written? Thats very subjective. TFM was more formulaic and refined in terms of writing. The majority of her tracks followed the exact same songwriting structure, had half as many tracks and its debatable about the song writing being better. She wanted to make a commercial pop album with tfm and with BTW she wanted to pursue more risks. Personally, I think BR and DITD are on the same level as Judas, Marry The Night, and the edge of glory in terms of songwriting and those are her hest written songs
