This song is X's way of acknowledging her past "Dirrrrrrrrty" self by saying she's "Still Dirrrrrrrty." The song is a nice, cool jam about the sex freak that's always inside of us, no matter how we look and act on the outside. The second verse bothers me a bit: "Why is a woman's sexuality / Always under so much scrutiny? / Why can't she do exactly as she please / Without being called a million things?" I feel like X has already covered this on "Can't Hold Us Down": "The guy gets all the glory the more he can score / While the girl can do the same and yet you call her a *****." X seems to be the only one holding herself down by getting hung up on what people think about her and writing songs about it.

I hate this song.

I liked this song, but I felt like it took away from the whole 'Back to Basics' theme. There was a clear style throughout the album until this track.

I loved the sample in Understand. Maybe I rated it a little low, an 8. #33.

I gave Glow a 9. My #22. I feel like I overrated most of my 9s (I Got Trouble, Finally, Yummy, maybe this) and underrated some of my 8s/8.5s.

Showtime was a grower. I gave it an 8.5. My #26.

I gave Still Dirrty an 8. My #35.

I guess this is one of the more polarizing songs of the rate, but it finished at #25, so more people like it than dislike it. This was a pretty brave choice to release as the lead single. Gwen was coming off a hugely successful LAMB era, and she could have easily went with an easy pop hit, but she went with this. The beat is abrasive. The melody is non-existent. It features yodeling. How did this manage to reach #6 on the Hot 100? It seems like something the GP would hate. I gave it an 8.5 because I admire Gwen's gutsiness, but I don't think I'll ever love this song.

Glow is one of the best girl group songs there never was.

Showtime ... it still makes me sent that it was never sent for adds at Urban/Rhythmic/Urban Adult Contemporary. It should have been the "blue-eyed soul" smash of 06-07, not Lost Without U.

Understand ... I just relistened. For years, it would have been a ten from me. Now, an eight.
