Overview Alphas is an American science fiction dramatic television series created by Zak Penn and Michael Karnow.
The series follows a group of people with superhuman abilities, known as "Alphas", as they work to prevent crimes committed by other Alphas.
The series is broadcast in the United States on the cable channel Syfy and is a co-production between BermanBraun and Universal Cable Productions. It premiered on July 11, 2011. After initial reports that the show was cancelled, on September 7, 2011, Alphas was renewed for a 13-episode second season, which premiered on Monday, July 23, 2012 at 10 pm ET

Following the death of a witness in a court case, Dr. Lee Rosen leads a team of "Alphas", (advanced human beings) who have have a number of special skills that makes them a formidable team. As Rosen mentors them and teaches the team to harness their considerable skills, they begin to realize that there are powerful forces behind the courthouse murder, including one of their own.

Dr. Rosen is incarcerated due to "acts of treason". Friendships are severed, the team has disbanded, a mole is in the midst of the heroes & the infamous Alpha holding camp, Binghamton, sees a mass prison break of the most dangerous Alphas. All the while an ever determined Stanton Parish is recruiting more and more Alphas to assist in a swiftly approaching genocide.
Season 3?
According to actor Ryan Cartwright, who plays Gary on the Syfy superhero series, a decision on the show’s fate wont be revealed until “mid-December”.

I watched the first season on Netflix over the break & slowly but surely fell in love. While it lacks the budget and plot of other similar shows, it's still good.
