At the end of the day Maroon 5 can still get solos #1 and good selling albums can't said the same about Madame X. They capitalize the song, I guess as me the general public feels the song is all about Maroon 5 and forgot who the other singer was, like Flo Ridas "Right Round".
They may not have gotten tto #1 before that because they had different music. Since changing their sound to be more commercial they've seen success with One More Night and to a lesser extent Payphone. Christina on the other hand flopped with Lotus so far. Therefore we can conclude the success of MLJ had everything to do with their new sound and also The Voice but not with Christina.
They had huge success off of their debut and a few singles off their 2nd and 3rd as well.
