So It's starting to annoy me how ATRLers think the US is the only part of the world, and success elsewhere doesn't matter.
For example in a recent 'Cheryl vs Cher (Lloyd)' thread, somebody said that Cher is more successful for having a top 10 album in the US, Despite it only selling 30k in its first week, compared to Cheryl's #1 125k in the UK. So according to most ATRLers having small success in a bigger country (US) is better than having record-breaking success in the UK. I see quite a few 'At least they're having success in the only market that matters' posts.
Why is ATRL stuck in this mind frame that only the US matters & that other countries are irrelevant? Also the fact that people think people local to their home countries are less successful than someone who are moderately successful in the US.
I agree. They look beyond stupid calling artists "local" especially when they haven't even TRIED releasing anything outside of their respective countries. The throats get real dry at times here and shading less successful artists outside of the USA is what drives them. Even though they are slaying their home charts, which is equally impressive.
Seriously? This is just sad. It's not that the US is better than the UK. It's just that the US is 300 times more important in every way, especially musically. The market is also more demanding. Nobody there gives a **** about Cheryl because she sounds like Microsoft Sam, and that just doesn't cut it. Stay pressed.

Did I spill the tea?
