Openly gay characters will come soon. One thing Disney can do, it's feed the GP what they want while influencing a new generation subliminally with beautiful messages.
And I think the best way to ever start integrating homosexuality into kid shows is to do it by first having homosexual parents tbqh. So that they aren't necessarily main characters so the homosexuality isn't a main issue and therefore won't drive the show, but the parents will still come up in topics or make appearance to remind you that the character has gay parents.

I don't think there will ever be openly gay characters in Disney shows. Disney shows are for kids, sexuality is not really an area they need to focus on. This is still good though.
