I also didn't listen to Ellie's whole album, hence I understand why you feel the way you do. But that's something I've noticed quite often, because as I already wrote somewhere, I often don't listen to the last tracks as often as I listen to the others and it's not because they are bad, it's just because something gets lost in the end. Maybe that's why most of the time the singles are part of the first tracks, I don't know.

Bloody Mary is kind of a sleeper hit, if I'd heard it before the rest of the album I probably would have been skeptical too! but I think if you listen to the full album, it fits in well and there's many tracks that are more instantly captivating. although I have to say, after watching an interview with Brian about the meaning of Bloody Mary I have a new found appreciation for it maybe give it another chance

probably, it really costs me quite an effort to not turn it off after Hanging On most of the time. like I said, the tracks in the second half are still worth checking out though, as well as the bonus tracks, maybe you can listen to them some time.

I feel so bad for Push and Shove not making it but I got into it sooo late, the top 10 was already decided then.
Living Dead is also great, and I relate to that a lot as well

it's true, it's a common flaw for albums not being able to maintain the listener's interest until the end. I think it should actually be a reason to place the singles more equally throughout the album, so that towards the end there's a song people already know and something they can look forward to hearing then, keeping the excitement, haha.

I'm one of the few that couldn't get into it Is it a grower?

Admittedly never heard anything by The XX.

But I hear great things about them so maybe I'll check them out next year.
