2012 was the most diverse year for pop music in over a decade.
I think 2006-2008 were quite diverse as well, since in those years you had the indie/rock songs being hits, also electro/dance songs being hits, and also R&B/hip hop.
2002-2005 were too dominated by urban music, and 2009-2011 have been too dominated by electropop music.
2012 was definitely much more diverse than 2009-2011 though imo! I hope 2013 can be even better!

I should probably rephrase what I said. 2012 was the first diverse year with GOOD music in over a decade.
This is my example. 2007.
Yeah there's a few decent pop songs on here but most of these songs are complete garbage. Very little outside of R&B/Hip Hop. Really terrible hip hop songs at that.
