SPICE Girl Mel B is planning a shock return to the UK... and hopes to bag a permanent job on The X Factor judging panel.
I can reveal the singer has started to look into schools for her children in London and is planning to move her entire family back here after more than a decade living abroad.
Mum-of-three Mel, 37, who was recently in the capital for the launch of Viva Forever!, has been told by X Factor bosses she stands a great chance of sealing a deal to replace *Tulisa Contostavlos or Nicole Scherzinger on the show after becoming a big hit with viewers.
She’s also facing pressure from daughter Phoenix, 12, who is best friends with Meg *Mathews daughter Anais and wants to go to boarding school with her pal in Hampshire.
A source close to Mel told me: “She’s ready to come back. All her obligations in Australia, where she’s been living for two years, come to *completion at the end of January. Phoenix really wants to be in the UK and Mel’s getting signs that things are going to work out with The X Factor. The thing about Mel is she goes where she’s wanted and where the work is. And if that’s the UK then so be it.”
It sure would help rumoured plans to get the Spice Girls back together. But from what I hear there really isn’t much of a plan at all.
Geri Halliwell wants another reunion and has been rounding up the girls. But Mel C’s on tour with Superstar and will be abroad for much of the year, Emma Bunton has just signed to Heart FM on the breakfast show for a year and Mel’s likely to be on The X Factor. Time for Gezza to calm down... at least for now.
Mel, who is married to film producer Stephen Belafonte, told me recently: “I’m not going to lie – I have no idea where the future will take me.
“I quite like not knowing what’s going to happen, where I’m going to be or how I’m going to do it. I love grabbing different *opportunities. I’m very lucky.” She sure is.
I would be TOTALLY here for that! I think Mel would be seriously great. And she definitely has the time to do it.... I mean lets face it, she's not doing much else
She's possibly the worst judge I have ever seen on any of the UK series', including guests. She isn't honest, she's just rude and she does it purely for attention, she's even worse than Geri.
But since Tulisa is leaving this sinking ship, Mel B can join and flop.

She's possibly second the best female judge I have seen, including all quests
