Exactly, people don't get how it works. Timing is everything. There are certain moments in the year where sales and radio audience are high and some where it's low.
It would be tough for anyone to debut at #1 next week or thanksgiving black friday because of the timing.
However, in January (cough cough hold it against me), September/October (cough cough 3), there are times that radio is lower than normal or leveling out.
As i said before, in september/october summer songs are fizzling and newer artists are releasing for November releases late September or late October early September/early october are ok times.
We should all know that the month of January and the early part of February is also a good time.
Also, late spring May because so few people have June/July releases.
Timing is everything.
If she were to release either during the first two weeks of September, first two weeks of October or sometime April, May or July then she stands a better chance.

She didn't join the 27 club so the young part would not be memorable.
She really was on the edge of glory. Would have given other urban pop artist a run for their money because she was a talented actress as well.
