The reason they have a bad rap is because an artist will do it with 2-4 crappy new songs, with 1 looking like an extra single to pump out more album sales from the public.
If it adds to the album and leads to 2-3 great new songs, with a few cool creative eras, then I doubt fans would be angry.

But if she's going to do a re-release I'd rather it be a whole EP. The re-release thing is mess anyways. Release songs digitally and then release them re-release them digitally, there's no need for a physical re-release in this day in age. Especially if it's only 2-3 "great" songs.
Edit: I guess the only really good thing about them is they add to the total of the album sales
