It's the scariest film I've seen all year, but it's also incredibly enjoyable and believable. The play was fantastically written and the film was a very justifying adaptation.
The only thing that irritates me about this film is the fact that everyone misses the "You're not my Mummy!" line that's crucial to understanding the end of the film. I had to look it up afterwards because I was unsure as to why it kept happening at the end of the film. This is pretty balanced out by the ending though, which had a fantastically sad, yet happy twist.
Not sure how I feel about them making a sequel though.
I'll admit that this film is pretty overrated. Everyone raved about it upon release and while it's a great film, it's not amazing (which is why it didn't make the Top 4 ).
Regardless, the film contains the second best twist I've seen in a film this year which contributes to its ranking. The twist is just brilliant... a creative turn that ultimately ends up even better with a (potentially) awful ending - depending on how you look at it. And when I say awful, I mean it's awful that it happens, not what happens - that's genius.
I won't give away the ending, but let's just say Sigourney Weaver slayed the role and played it effortlessly like she always does.
A fantastic horror film with a sci-fi spin. Fantastic.
For starters, I was pretty determined not to see this film. It seemed overrated and I didn't think I would like it - people recommended the books but I detested the style of writing so I wrote the whole thing off until October.
Another film I discovered on a flight between New York and London, I watched this on the way to NYC and thought it was absolutely brilliant. Everything about it was enjoyable, relatively artistic and just excellently executed.
Once again it was another film I downloaded when I got home, except I watched this about 7 times in the following week. It's only now I've completely stopped watching it because I don't want to get bored of it.
Let me just say I cannot wait for Catching Fire. I remain oblivious to the book series, but I'm dying to see what happens as President Snow attempts to get revenge on Katniss and Peeta.
Fun Fact: Catching Fire is my second most-anticipated sequel of a film from this year.
lol, I was like you at first, like "this is so overrated" but after watching the movie I fell in love it it! I went to my nearest store to buy the 3 books amazing film, I'm waiting for "Catching Fire" too, that was my fave book of the trilogy btw
I've never really liked James Bond. Obviously I never saw any of them upon release, so I had never experienced the fascination, greatness etc. of James Bond. When the Daniel Craig series began, I saw the first two when they were released and thought they were both mediocre, until I watched Casino Royale again a few months ago and released it's actually a pretty brilliant film! (Quantum of Solace remains a pile of **** though).
Skip forward to the release of Adele's Skyfall and the hype began... Skip forward to the release of the first trailer and I just couldn't wait for this Bond film.
I preceded to see it on the second day it was in the cinema and it was just amazing. The story is precise and intriguing, the production is incredible and the film just never feels like it drags, despite the length of it.
The entire film is just on point. It's not your typical Bond film; it's far more intimate with a lack of corniness about it that's non-existent in every other Bond film to date.
And the opening credits scene is the definition of perfect.
I definitely want to watch Hunger Games eventually! I read the first two chapters of the first book, but never got beyond that The plot sounds very interesting though!
