This is a serious question. No shade intended. I really want to know what you guys think.
Why are young urban artists flopping, while young pop artists are becoming successful?
For example; One Direction, they're blowing up across the world. Same with Bieber, etc.
Compared to Mindless Behavior, The OMG Girlz, Jacob Latimore, etc.
The urban ones are black. Which means they have to be flawless. Also being ultra good looking helps. Which is hard being black, as it's not given much praise looks wise. White acts will always do better. Black girls scream for Trey Songz for a reason, whereas some white girls wouldn't give a...
Also the pop ones get the money. 1D had Simon on them from the start. I saw it in the UK.

Thaaaat's not true. Me and my friends (white females) were just watching his videos earlier today talking about how hot he was.
There's still good urban out there but it's not commercial or mainstream. Plus no good urban-pop artists had albums this year IMO
It's been a while since we had boy bands. I think the fact that 1D finally filled that gap after a long time ..when NLT couldn't manage to do it..has to do a lot with their increasing success. My thoughts
Because Mindless Behavior, The OMG Girlz and Jacob Latimore suck
Cause Urban's just not in anymore, it was a phase the charts went through in the late 90s and early 2000s but now people want lighter music to appeal to so naturally they turned to pop music.
