If you think about it for awhile, why on earth is a game about a plumber the largest gaming franchise in the world. It doesn't make sense. I think its because of all the spinoffs such as Mario Kart, the original 2D games, the 3D games, Paper Mario etc. Your thoughts?

He's the most popular game character in history. I guess the Super Mario Bros. game was just the right amount of simple and addicting. The whole franchise is a phenomenon. The smartest decision Nintendo made.
