Gaga has been out for like 4 years. Avril had 'Girlfriend', 'When You're Gone' etc. in 2007, which was 5 years after she debuted. So give it time. Avril was still a huge popstar all the way up to 2008 when she had a massive 108 date tour. In 2009 she disappeared and she found it difficult to return but still sold 4 million copies of 'What The Hell' worldwide and had a 64 date tour. Which was 10 years into her career. Avril is doing very well for an artist people thought would disappear 2-3 years into her career. Yet 11 years later and she's setting up for her 5th era, and is currently smashing in Japan with her new single 'How You Remind Me'. Avril has laid down a solid foundation for herself and she will be able to continue her career for years on that foundation. Not everyone can stay at their career peak for 25 years like Madonna. We'll see if Gaga is maintaining her career as well as Avril is in 7 years time.

Well this post is full of flat-out lies. Poker Face towers over any other singles from either of them, and Just Dance was bigger than the rest of those bar Complicated.

And speaking of Bad Romance as Gaga's second lead single, what was Avril's second lead? I really have no memory of that era at all.
