Apple began selling the new iPhone 5 in China on Friday and according to numbers released tonight, more than 2 million were sold over the first weekend.
“Customer response to iPhone 5 in China has been incredible, setting a new record with the best first weekend sales ever in China,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “China is a very important market for us and customers there cannot wait to get their hands on Apple products.”
These numbers clearly put to rest speculation by analyst Steven Milunovich who said “some of our Chinese sources do not expect the iPhone 5 to do as well as the iPhone 4S.”
Samsung Galaxy S III is the best-selling smartphone of all time with 30 million units sold.

That's a myth iSheeps continue to believe. I'm pretty sure the people who are buying an SGS3 can definitely afford an iPhone 5. It's just they opted for the better device. The SGS3 is the pretty much in the same price range with the iPhone 5..

Let's see if it will reach the 30 million milestone, not when the Samsung Galaxy S IV is just 2 months away from announcement.
That's the thing. China's population is so huge, and yet only 5-10% can only afford an iPhone 5. That's what Nokia is doing. They just don't cater to who can afford, but they cater to what people can afford!
Nokia's going to own China AND India in 2013. The 620 alone will sell hotcakes.
