Since you kids are already writing off Carly Rae Jepsen as a one hit wonder (even though she has had over five hits in her home country, Canada) what about Ellie Goulding? She's had multiple hits in her home country in the UK, but only one in the US. Yet, I think many of you would defend her status as a one hit wonder. So, do you think Ellie Goulding is a one hit wonder in the United States?
Anything Could Happen is going to smash in the US in the coming weeks.
However, in the long term I see her having occasional commercial hits in the US and regular hits in the UK but she will remain a niche artist with a cult following rather than a highly mainstream star. Like her idol, Bjork.
To this point, unfortunately yes. Anything Could Happen is one of my top songs of the year though. I really hope it ends up having the gradual success of Lights and smashes for her.
