Celeb News: Trey Songz shades R&B artists?

Trey Songz says the success of his new "Chapter V" -- his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 -- is a validation of what he considers an against-the-grain musical approach these days.

"People were in need of real R&B and really appreciated this body of work from me when there aren't a lot of your favorite R&B artists giving you R&B albums," Songz tells Billboard. "It's not even that it's real R&B or fake R&B; it's that you have a lot of your favorite R&B singers making pop music right now. And in this time it was very important for me to stay true to myself and stay true to the music that's gotten me to the point where I am right now."

Sad but true. Trey Songz makes great music, I'm happy that I'm also stanning for him since the beginning of his career but the most do it because they'll not just waste their talent for one genre and not for a genre which isn't so much popular anymore... if you look at the charts in these days everything even pop songs are listed as R&B Songs...

I don't like this new direction RnB is going in. Even when it's not techno, they have completely lost the message of RnB. WTF is Bitches and the Drinks?

Adorn and Please Don't Judge Me are awesome songs. But It's still not real RnB in my opinion.
But the TRUE RnB jamz were B2K, Omarion, Jojo and dare I say; Ashanti.

RnB is **** nowadays anyway. If we want it back. Trey needs to go. Usher needs to come back with Confession type tracks, R Kelly must come back. We need to stop bringing out these upgraded version of Ciara Fantasy ride tracks please.

I understand where he's coming from, but it made him sound really cocky. It's the state of RnB in general, it's just not selling and a lot of the songs are about drinking and getting laid but there are some exceptions (Climax, Adorn).
