The negative reaction was uncalled for & caused her to be afraid of simplistic videos for the rest of the era, resulting in the Y&I & MtN videos returning to longer forms. While great videos in my opinion, they were definitely extraneous in certain parts.

Videos can be long without being superfluous, which is exactly what those two videos were.
You & I was nice visually, in some parts, but in others, it felt like a bunch of ideas jammed together that didn't fit in a cohesive way.
In the case of MTN, 13 minutes is far too much when the song itself isn't even half that length. You can tell a story without a 9 minute "Prelude Pathetique."
I think the phrase "less is more" applies nicely.
