I know, they're basically the definition of 'local'

but in their defense, this was a rather random middle-sized city they were playing, not one of the big urban areas like Berlin where they are better known.

for the longest time, I was in a dilemma whether I should go to this gig or not. I had been wanting to see LIGHTS for over a year, but this concert was 700km away and only four days before I was leaving for the UK to see PTV. I didn't really want to spend any more money on a trip like this, but in the end my love for LIGHTS was stronger and I just went. I didn't regret it for one second.

it was a small, cozy venue with a crowd of about 100-150 people, so it made for a rather intimate gig. I was so excited for LIGHTS, and my evening was already made the moment she entered the stage with a huge smile that she didn't lose the whole evening. it was so obvious that she was enjoying herself, singing and dancing on the tiny stage, only calming down for some quiet solo acoustic performances on the piano. it was almost like magic when she played Drive My Soul on there and made the audience sing the last chorus.

kinda like with Breathe Carolina, I was pleasantly surprised how well her electronic sound worked being played live, the songs sounded as good as on the record and her vocals were also pretty good. she put everything into the performance and it was fascinating to watch her, she has an amazing stage presence.

about an hour after the concert, she came to the merch table and hung out with people. there were at least 50 fans waiting in line to meet her, but she talked to every single one of them and even asked us questions, trying to make a conversation with everyone. I thought it was incredible. when it was my turn, we took a pic and she signed my ticket, and I talked to her for a few minutes. she was incredibly sweet, hugging me when I congratulated her on her recent marriage and thanking me a thousand times

best moment: when she covered Blondie's Heart of Glass! I adore that song and completely freaked when she started playing it, I had no idea she would cover it that night and she slayed it, too
