"Femme Fatale" did fine IMO I don't consider the era a flop .... but I think its singles success were overrated by some Brit fans.

"TTWE" the biggest hit of FF wasn't closed in sales to "Womanizer" or "Circus (single)"... despite receiving better airplay and even a Collab Remix was released

Despite performing good in the most countries, all the FF singles underperformed or flopped in Germany , and UK. (even "Radar" did better than "IWG" and "Criminal" in UK)

All the singles had more airplay but failed to reach the sales of the "Circus singles".


On the other hand:

The "Circus era" produced two 3x platinum singles in US with less airplay and no collab remixes , and produced two +5M seller singles worldwide.

"Womanizer" was a hit everywhere, and it was even her highest selling single in UK since "Oops I did it again"





"Circus" is probably Britney's biggest singles era since "Baby one more time"

I do consider FF a flop. There is now way to turn it around. Selling less than a million with 3 hit singles?

It depends .... for Britney standars it was a flop.


But for 2012 standards it was not a "real commercial failure" that generated loss of money to the label.

1) The album surpassed GOLD sales in the US
2) it surpassed the 1,5M copies WW
3) its singles received radio airplay support
4) The album received good reviews
5) it produced 3 platinum/ multi-platinum singles



For me a "REAL flop" is this:

1) The album fail to reach or shipped GOLD in US
2) It fails on reaching the 1M mark WW
3) The singles don't receive radio support
4) The album receives bad reviews
6) The singles as the album fail to reach GOLD.


FF wasn't as tragic (commercial wise) as some people make it seems.



Britney Spears still hasn't released a TRUE / REAL FLOP era in her 14 years of career yet ..... however her next album is very important , she could enter in the future in the "real flop" phase if things aren't done right .... her career and future in music depends on her next album.

A flop is NOT debuting at #1, NOT having any hit singles and canceling a tour.

The album sales are only 25% of the equation.

Do you guys expect big sales for album 8? It's kind of painful to see stans who still think Britney will pull 500k+ first week. I think she will roughly sell 300k first week and struggle to reach platinum, unless the material extremely great and she promotes, in that case I think she might pull a platinum and 2 milli in total when allis said and done.
