LONDON - The Spice Girls bandwagon is speeding up.
More than 1 million ticket applications for the reunion tour of the 1990s U.K. hit act were registered on the Web site just a day after announcing the comeback.
According to a statement from the group's spokesperson, the site is receiving 10-plus ticket applications a second, following news last week of an 11-city, eight-country tour from December.
Moreover, representatives for the band anticipate 5 million applications by the middle of this week.
The AEG Live-promoted tour will support a new greatest hits album via Virgin Records this November.
As previously reported, Bob Smeaton, the rock-music documentary director famous for his works on the Beatles and the Who, is working on the Spice Girls' first official TV documentary for global distribution.
